ZAMBIA TRAVELS: ZAMBEZI BY AIRPLANE, LIVINGSTONE, GAME LODGES
Zambezi by Airplane: Animals from the Air
We took a 4 seater airplane (Cessna 172) down to the Lower Zambezi River - about 40 minute flight down, another 40 minutes scooting along the river, skimming the bush and watching for wildlife, then back to Lusaka. A bit bumpy and hot down by the river, but we got to see elephant, hippo, zebra, buffalo, baboon, wart hog, antelope and bush pigs - how cool is that?
A drive down to Livingstone after school on Friday brings us in the dark to the last 80 kilometers where our nice road disappears and we are jounced, jolted and bumped along a pothole infested track. Often we drive on the dirt on the side of the road since that seems to be the better surface, large trucks weave around the holes on the road and we are grateful for our second set of high intensity driving lights. Victoria Falls is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Boy, that's a lot of water!
