Atashgah, Yanar Dag, Oala History Museum, Recycled Materials Museum
It's off again for another expat day trip to places outside Baku. We start at Atashgah, the Zorastrian temple, then to Yanar Dag where fire burns eternally from the side of a mountain. It's a gray, cold day as we traipse around different sites. This was our second trip here and you can see more details and photos of these 2 places at this page: http://www.sharingourjourney.com/yanar-dagateshgah.html. The two museums that we haven't seen include the Qala Archaelological and Ethnographic Museum Complex and an art museum where all exhibits were made from recycled materials. The Qala museum is an open-air museum which houses traditional-style Absheron buildings such as house, smithy, potters workshop, animals (camels, goats, etc.) and a wide range of archaelogical finds and petroglyphs. Another nearby inside museum houses urns, pottery, and artifacts from the area. The museum of recyled art was very cool! The pieces made creative use of a diverse range of materials - old metal, nails, plastics, and more. We marveled at the uniqueness and creativity of the artists.
