Leaving the Montenegro motel we are on the path for about 20 minutes and run across the campsite of our 2 German friends. They had found a lovely site on a hillside among some trees and were eating breakfast in the sunshine. After visiting for a bit and continuing on, the words for this day became 'spectacular' and 'remote'. We were mostly in the forest, following an abandoned mule path. Although we often wonder, could mules really walk on this path - narrow at times, over rocks, across scree falls?? It seems to be a mostly uphill walk today with views of the Yedi Burun (Seven Capes) later in the day. We met no one on the trail and most of it is through remote, mountain areas. We scrambled hand over hand across a couple of big scree falls, but other than that the path was in good repair, to arrive at Alinca, a very, very small village at the top of a mountain.
We would say that this was our most unique accommodation - a small room, barely big enough for a double bed, and a bathroom/shower - but the amazing part was that there were sliding glass doors at the entrance of the room that opened up to a glorious view of the sea. We felt like we were in a nest, high up on a cliff overlooking the turquoise, blue water. We sat on the bed and watched the sky turn colors with the sunset and then in the morning watched as the light crept up the hills behind us to illuminate the sea. Just a quick note about bathroom/showers - an efficient way to create a bathroom is to tile the small room floors and walls, put in a toilet, sink and shower - so when you shower the whole room becomes the shower - effective, but somewhat annoying when after the shower the whole floor remains wet (such a spoiled comment!). This room also had a heater, which was put to good use in the morning. Our dinner here was great - we were the only guests so we sat close to a fire they built in a beehive fireplace - Billy loved the vegetable dish with pea pods and potatoes in a tomato sauce. Then, after soup, bread, vegetables, we thought dinner was done, they brought out chicken and rice - not to mention the yummy dessert. So, much of our chicken went into our sandwiches for the next day's hike.
