The double-decker busses continue to roar down the streets, the market vendors call out their prices, the crowds jostle, the city hums, the neon lights flicker, the huge ships glide by our window, nature still lures us out onto the hiking trails. What we at one time could never conceive of being "normal" has become part of everyday life.
Our big gift this year was having Sharon live with us and attend a semester of high school here. She kept us delighted with anecdotes from high school life and observations of Hong Kong and it's peoples. In between going to school, playing the guitar, knitting and other activites she also decided to learn how to cook. We were her very willing testers as baked goods and vegetarian cuisine was created in our tiny kitchen. Coming home from work we would smell the delicious odors emanting from the flat - sad to say that this is now a thing of the past. Sharon returned to the US to continue her education with a wonderful program that enables her to finish high school while getting college credit at the same time.
