Walked around Greenport - we remember again what a stunning little town this is!, we walk on the local beaches and breathe in the sights and smells. One last glimpse through the windows at the childhood home as it has just sold. In some sense, this area will always in home. I can't believe how few photos I took!!! Too busy visiting to remember photos of people. There was a very rocky ferry ride back to CT with high winds and big swells.
5 Nov: Bolles Brook, the "Tom" trail remembering our hike with Tom last year
9 Nov: Tibbets State Forest with a huge area of blowdowns
29 Nov: lights go up and look who can still do a headstand!
A New Condo to get ready for renters - painting, repairs, furniture
5 Dec: Waters Hill Cemetery: seems to be in the middle of nowhere and so sad to see stones for so many babies and toddlers
7 Dec: back to our favorite big beaver pond on the AT near Stamford, we were surprised to see so much snow here, we found lots of feathers on the ground but no evidence of blood or animal tracks - Ham explains that it was probably a partridge taken by an owl
10 Dec: Pine Valley loop with Lin
17 Dec: the biggest snow so far of our Vermont experience - a good 18 inches here but close by got up to 30 inches, it took us 2 days to dig out
19 Dec: Part way up Mt Anthony for first trip with snowshoes
21 Dec: a quick stop at Hogback Mt on the way home from Brattleboro but not enough time before dark to go to the top
23 Dec: Catamount trail and part of Flood Dam trail in Searsburg
25 Dec: Christmas dinner with Lorna and Ham and then an expedition to watch the roaring rivers (from a big rain and lots of melting)
27 Dec: Dome Trail - snow and ice kept geting onto microspikes making it difficut to hike, lots of slippery rocks, not our best hike!
30 Dec: Berlin Mountain - up the easy trail but straight down the old ski slope - wow, we can't imagine how skiiers can maneuver down slopes like this!
