We spent a week at Mike and Shirley's house in Angeles, a small town near LaFortuna, and then embark on a 16 day tour around the country. Mike is Ann's son, who along with Shirley, live and work in Long Island and frequently come to Costa Rica to improve their casa.
Our flight to Costa Rica was due to arrive a little before 10pm. However there was so much rain and reduced visibility when attempting to land in San Jose we were diverted to Panama City, Panama. No extra charge for this diversion, just hours while we landed, waited, picked up additional fuel before heading back north to San Jose. Shirley's sister had so generously offered to pick us up and take us to Mike's house and she had to wait hours for us - then it was a 2 hour journey through the countryside arriving at the house around 4:30am!!
At Mike and Shirley's house we enjoyed hanging out, watching and listening to the birds, watching the iguanas, eating, visiting, helping around the house fixing items, painting fences...
Shirley's sister then took as all shopping on the way back to San Jose, so we could begin our tour - Mike and Shirley were looking at bathroom tiles, floors, toilets, sinks... to get bathrooms redone. She then took as all the way to San Jose to our hotel where we were to start the tour.
